Enhancing Teaching and Learning of DSR-Chinese with Generative AI

On August 26, 2025, Senior Lecturer Dr. Chan Chi Ming and Lecturers Dr. Chung Ming Wai Christy and Dr. Poon Hon Fong Connie from the Chinese Language Enhancement Programme (CLEP) were invited by the Chinese Language Centre of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University to serve as guest speakers at the seminar “Enhancing Teaching and Learning of DSR-Chinese with Generative AI.”

Dr. Chan delivered a keynote address titled “Training and Assessing of Comprehensive Communication Skills in a Multimodality Environment.” Through practical case studies, he illustrated how generative AI can be leveraged to optimize instructional design, writing training and assessment practices in Chinese language teaching. The presentation was well received, with enthusiastic engagement and thoughtful questions from teachers in attendance, who commented on the tangible benefits gained from the session.

Dr. Chung and Dr. Poon contributed by sharing classroom experiences and engaging in in-depth discussions of teaching strategies with peers from other universities, fostering professional exchange and collaboration.

This event showcased the expertise and impact of the Chinese Language Enhancement Programme at The University of Hong Kong and the CLEP AI Support Team, led by Dr. Chan, in advancing the integration of language education and artificial intelligence technologies.
